We are looking forward to a fun day next Wednesday when our Happy Walk is on.  Remember to wear something starting with a ‘C’.  Hopefully, we will have a sunny day like we did last year.  Thanks to our P&C for organising this wonderful community event.

    POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT STRATEGY

Student Engagement and Wellbeing is a school priority in our Strategic Plan 2012 – 2014. As part of our school review processes, we have been considering the benefits of implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) which is a key strategy in the Department of Education’s Focus 2013.  It is a research based process that focuses on organisational change strategies to improve the social culture, learning and teaching environments and the behaviour supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students. It is therefore a whole school approach to improvement rather than a ‘program’. After surveying staff, discussion workshops, data analysis and research, there was significant staff support to begin implementing PBS.  This begins this Thursday and Friday with 9 staff who will form the Leadership Team, out on professional learning.  For cultural and organisational change to be effective and sustainable, time is needed.  We therefore envisage that we are looking at a 2 – 3 year implementation period.  Further information will be shared through our School Council, P&C, web site and newsletter.  If anyone is however interested in reading more about PBS at this stage, you could search ‘Positive Behaviour Support’ online.  It is also referred to as School Wide Positive Behaviour Support or SWPBS.

    NAPLAN WEEK

Our NAPLAN testing finished last week.  This required a huge amount of organisation and I would like to thank our Deputy,MrNeilLake, for all his hard work.  The results will not be available until the end of term 3 / beginning term 4.
